Since pretty much everyone else has explained the general flow and premise of the story I'll say this. It's not going to be a show that everyone will like (it is a harem and can be quite fan-service-y), but one thing I'd say the story does VERY well is foreshadowing. I started with the anime and the little mystery and its foreshadowing was what hooked me in, and the characters were lovable enough to keep enjoying the story as the mysteries were all slowly being revealed piece-by-piece. Shocking moments and revelations happen but for the most part, it generally doesn't feel like something that was pulled out of nowhere for convenience. Like, the hints are there, noticeable enough to not be entirely forgotten but also no obvious enough to give the entire game away.

This was a really good anime. I actually didn't watch the intros until just now with you for the first time. The anime is old, that's why the quality looked that way. So I assumed the OP's wouldn't sound good but I was clearly wrong. Thanks for sharing this with us.

while i enjoyed the show, it has a serious pacing problem. the first part of is decent but then it gets seriously rushed and disorienting. it would have been good if they could have taken it slower but unfortunately ended up just being kinda mediocre.

This anime is my all time favorite, and I’m not even joking. It’s been 12 years since I’ve seen it for the first time and it’s still in my top 10 no matter how many anime I’ve seen since then (and I’ve seen MANY). It really is such a great and unique anime and I love it so much. And it’s such a shame it never was really appreciated and that it’s forgotten now. And even though many people are hating on s2 I don’t really understand why, it might be worse than s1 but still great too

One of the 1st anime I have eve watched, yeah its great , Hei is so cool ! If you can some day, give a try to Ergo proxy, it's very deep, Mc is so great. , such an underrated classic anime. And Kino no Tabi buuuuut the 2003 version.

Literally the only harem anime I enjoy. It’s got a lot of interesting lore, some of the best plot twists I have ever seen in anime, and a really fun cast.

Love this show so much, what got me hooked was the fact that it's such a dark show. Very underrated.

Kaiju is a media genre about giant monsters like Godzilla. I've been enjoying this one a lot so far!

I listened to the op song so much when it came out lol I got the feeling while watching the anime that they skipped a lot from the original story (which I haven't read), because the final eps were kind of weird.

so glad you re watching it, one of my favorite manga, and the adaptation is amazing, Characterization is great, and Maomao is to me, one of the best main female ever.. Please keep in mind all details, and all the different stories are like dots, that will link at some point. Enjoy, it's amazing , trust me !

They visually represent the technique with the tassels in the flashback. I suspect Maomao's treatment of the makeup lady was based on the manager of the brothel she came from. Substance abuse and risky behavior could be lethal for someone working in a pleasure district, and that form of harsh punishment to keep the girls safe would've been quite normal for the time period. She's lucky to have avoided much worse

i once heard this show sarcastically described as "hei's super happy fun fun time with super powers"

I've said it before i say it again, I prefer the og openings WAY more over brotherhood's. Rewrite is easily one of the best Asian Kung Fu Generation songs.

The singer is Yudai Takenda from band NovelBright. He is vocalist and 2 times champions world in whistle... The band so cool! The guitars, the bass and the vocalist omg I really love them even they other song so good and cool! U had check out them! They even make op for song Cantabile I think last year... (Bad in english🙂)

I really love windbreaker so much after I watching ep 1 when it out I just straight get manga because I cannot wait for ep2... This animation so cool! The design character so cool! Op and ed song so cool! The storyline is so cool! Everything about this anime so cool!

Yeah each episode kind of ends with a tease of what's coming up in the next episode. It helps cement the episodes as not separate but one continuing story

God of highschool to me was pretty mid the visuals and voice acting was really but the story was meh

Lady Gyokuyou at the end gets to have rest at night because the Emperor isn't visiting her all the time. The burden is now shoulder between the two consorts Gyokuyou and Lihua. MaoMao is laughing because she knows the secret technique she told Lihua about is working.

it is not really a "friendship" you see this often in historical dramas, the servants are extremely loyal to the person their serving, tending to their every need, even commiting crimes and crying when their dead...it was just the culture at the time period ^^ and yes the servants did know the stuff was banned but she just wanted to make her pretty, doing it the wrong way.

_Darker than Black_ was one of the first "currently-airing" fansubbed anime I ever watched. The idea of being able to watch an anime that only aired a few weeks ago in Japan, instead of waiting years for the English DVD release was _wild!_
